Good work, and curse that evil doctor. One suggestion, I think the green shirted mimiga needs just a bit more shadows in her shirt because she's just looking a tad bit flat right now, same with the hands if possible. But again, good work, the scene looks really well done. You got nice penmanship too lol

Hiya Keith! Yush, those definitely seem to be good ideas, I'll definitely look into them and fix them before I post that picture to everyone ^-^ Thanks for your comment and critique, aaaand glad you like my handwriting too X3 Take care, Toby

Hehehe, I had a feeling you were working on something related to Cave Story, especially after you showed me all those cute little drawings of the Mimigas. X3 I'm not too far into the game, but wow, so far it's been pretty fun! It really reminds (I say that word a lot ;P ) me of the old days of the NES. ^^ Especially the music. All of that was made by one person, correct? Excellent work he did there. :) It's impressive to see you make versions of the Mimigas in your own style. They're just...cute! X3 Ah, well, you know it's true! You'd want to hug one of them...perhaps a plushie would do the trick, but there aren't many of them these days. :< The more cartoonish style fits pretty well considering that it's closer to the game look. The colorful foreground makes a great contrast with the background, showing a more peaceful aspect of the caves. X3 The background looks well done, by the way. Some people might find it hard to make an indoor setting of a location with many different textures, but you managed to make it all look enclosed and "packed," providing for a nice cave mood. ^^ The foreground, too, has attention as well with the little rocks sticking out on the edge of the grass. The Mimigas of course have that adorable look on them, with plenty of furriness...fur X3 and the type of clothes they wear. :3 Not sure if this was intentional, but did you color Toroko's eyelashes? The buttons on her clothes seem to have varying shapes as well. Also, not that it matters, buuut I noticed that one of them has no fingers while the other one does. X3 (Oh, and I've been wondering if that "X" was a scar...or a nose thingy...the in-game graphics/pixels confused me a bit. <.<; ) Well done again; it's always nice to get a look at your drawings. <3

Heheh, these are really cute! I like the ears on the left one. ^ ^ Nice job, keep it up! X) Now I've gotta see what this game is like.

^^ This is really cute! The ears of the left one are super - they look really good. The flowers, water bucket and toadstools are a nice detail too. I also like the way the trees are very dark and are just visible in the background. ^^

Thankies for the comment, aaand glad you like the characters ^-^ The background is very dark, I know and in fact, it's supposed to be platforms in a cave instead of trees, but I just saw the picture on another monitor and it looks quite a bunch darker than I meant it to look like, so I'll definitely look into that ^-^ Toby

Awr. I like Sue's ears as they seem quite a lot fluffier. :3 Her hands though, seem as though they were done quickly, just little circles compared to Toroko's hands. Maybe they should be open with palms facing upwards, as if to show the vastness of her world. It would be a lot more detailed. ;D {And I noticed Toroko's buttons change from square to circle. xD} As usual, I must give extra love to the setting, you always give so much work to it, I'm jealous. But the first thing I noticed when I opened up the picture was, "Woah-it's dark. ^-^;" But then I noticed that it was the contrast of the bright green grass to the shadowy caves in background. There isn't much light in the caves, right? ^-^ But I still love it. <3 Now you made me want to play Cave Story, Toby!

Awr, thankies for your awesome comment, Phiyrr <3 I know what you mean about Sue's hands, I have a few troubles drawing them so they still have that they still fit with the style of the mimigas, soooo I pretty much left them alone and didn't add any details to them, to see whether someone would notice. Though now that I know it's so obvious, I'll definitely work on them, no doubt ^-^ (I'm actually a Toroko fan, nooo idea, she seems to be really graceful in the game ^-^ Buuut I like Sue's ears too, they're .. unique X3 ) (Yup, that's something else I need to work on ^^; Great job noticing aaaaand thanks for telling me too! <3 ) Weeell, it's interesting with the background - it should be dark, yush, buuut you should still be able to see all the details. However, if one's monitor is a little on the darker side too, it might be a little hard, so I thought of brightening up the picture - not sure whether I'll really do it though, buuuut it's something I'm considering ^-^ Take care, aaaand thank you once again for your detailed critique, it's muchly appreciated ^-^ Toby

Annnnd you're very welcome, Toby. It's just that the circles for hands didn't look very convincing, you know. But it's alright. {Awr, really? Toroko seems really sweet, too. I haven't really played the game, though. ^-^;;} {You're welcome again! :3} Oh, I see, I see. Maybe that's why the grass looked too bright for cave grass. ~paws, phiyrr

Eeeee, they're so cute!! I've never heared of Cave Story, I'll have to go take a look. n___n I love how you've made the background so dark, and how it just fades away into the distance, it makes the two characters out the front really jump out at you. They're gorgeous, they make me want to hug them. xD The expression on Sue is adorable, she looks so amazed at everything around her. I must go see this game. :3

Ahhh, everybody seems to have played that game once upon a time, hahah...I th ink I did too, but the duration was only about five minutes, so I never got to see these characters. In any case... When I first saw this picture I wondered why there wasn't a background to this - that was until I viewed it later on and realised there is one, its just very very daaark~ ;P It is a lovely picture though, the characters are cute and everything seems to be working great composition wise with the huge caves in the background, and the characters there...the only qualm I'd say was the intense bright colours of the foreground features against that extremely dark background. I don't ever feel right critiquing your work because you put so much care and detail into it, heheh...but I would quietly comment that perhaps an addition of either a few darker shades to the foreground, or a few lighter ones to the background would work wonders in this setting. Maybe it would give it a more magical feeling, I'm aware caves often have a dull, mystical glow to them, in most cases...it would look particularly relevant here, I would think. :) Otherwise, another delicious picture to view from you, sir. Feel free to disregard my critique though, as I've not played this particular game and I can't exactly comment on the setting that I've never seen before, ahaha. This is all idle advice from me. ;P

ooOOOoooo XD Never heard of the game, I'm afraid, but this piece is cute, never the less! I like how the trees waaaay in the background look like mere looming shadows (then again, they are in a cave XD) I like how they'll all drippy and stuff, really looking like cave...thingies. XD The house in the backgorunds looks very nice and three-dimensional. Oh! I also like how the grass blades were made here, especially the ones under the trees, that are darker. The bumps on the toadstools are a nice addtional, making them look three dimensional as well. ^-^ The characters are very cute, you can just see the amazement in Sue's face, just gulping down the vision before her. It's not often you can see a full fledge village underground, accompanied by surface flowers and a river! Yay!

Aww, lucky her - and only six more weeks, too ^^ I can only imagine how that must feel, when you come over and she'll show you where and how she has been living for the past months or years, even ^^ Australia is really different to Europe too, so "new world" isn't at all farfetched. I'm sure she's going to have a great time though (even if she's returning in winter X3), and hope you'll be able to visit her soon, too ^^ (oh, and glad to know you like the drawing ^^ thank you for commenting on it too, Karen; it's much appreciated <3) Toby

Yay, congratulations finishing the game - even if it's just the bad ending :3 I agree though, the game has a couple of very dark and sad spots in the plot, but then again, it might be just that what makes it so memorable ^^ Thanks for your comment <3 Toby

Hi Eugene! To be honest - I don't know. Sue has these markings in the original game - look at the second screenshot on this CaveStory fan-site. It's been a looong time since I played the game, so my memory is a bit foggy - but I don't recall that we (as players) are told whether they are a scratch or not. Toroko and the other Mimigas don't have them - it's only Sue that does. I just accepted them as "being there" and drew Sue with them. ;P (Actually I think King has a slash over his face as well, which looks like he got it from battle - maybe there's a similar story behind Sue? She did get transformed into a Mimiga by the witch, soooo maybe there was a fight preceding that. ^^)
