It's a great article, must have took some time, but certainly worth it. And I really do hate some sites which limit passwords to 6 or 8 characters. At least DeviantArt doesn't do that. ^_^

Same here .. plus then there are some sites that only allow you letters or numbers (deviantArt allows you to use everything, even odd characters such as ‡ or so), and sites like ebay are told not to care about capitalization (so gOOgley and gOoGlEy would be the same passwords X.x). Glad to hear it helped, though ^^ Let's hope less people fall for these tricks now ;)

ok on aim i had a password an my X friend went on my name because i told her my password when we were friends an she erased all my people i was soo pissed how do i protect it soo onlt I can go on my name!

Well, the first thing you should do is changing your password to something else, she wouldn't be able to know or guess .. then check that the e-mail address AIM has on file is still your correct one, so she cannot use the 'lost password' tool .. that's pretty much the best thing to do, if the password is changed and the e-mail address is correct, she wouldn't be able to get on anymore (AIM also tells you if she would sign in while you are signed in)

btw i will definetly tell people about this site so they can look out not to get there accounts stolen. i know they dont know how to protect there accounts very well because ive easilly got there passwords, of course i didnt steal their accounts or anything cuz there my friends.

Hiya ^-^ First of all, thanks for your nice words - and sorry for my long delay responding to them - school and such kept me a little busy these days ^^; Yush, you're right though, there are loads of easy way, and if the passwords aren't easy to guess already, many give them out surprisingly fast .. like, once someone said they'd give away a rare item to the first one asking them, and if you asked them, they just wanted the password "so they can give the item to you" .. ooor, some even give it out to someone claiming to be staff, want saying they need to check a problem with the account ("otherwise your pet might be gone") .. and some just give it out to someone who turns out to be a bad friend X.x Meep, guess the only thing one can do is being a shining example and not give out passwords, and helping your friends, right? Since if you already could get the passwords, someone else might, who isn't as friendly, no? ^^;

Well, someone scammed me and I'm very upset and i was crying like hell wen it happened (me is a baby o.0) but i had 100k's worth of jhudora, darigan, and halloween gallery items in my gallery. she sold ALL of them, she ruined my lookup, and deleted my guild and took my 70k!! Please, please could you get help me get my account back?  (thats me!) thanks!!!

err .. try the tombola? coltzan's shrine? ^^; I think the only thing I have on neopets are a few omelettes so my neopets don't need to hunger when I'm not there, but that's it X3 Apart from that, play the games and have fun, the neopoints you get automatically from playing games and all that stuff ;P

If the site is well done you can't do it besides guessing, but most sites (including this one) will record who the guesses came from, and might complain to your Internet Service Provider.

Thank you very much for writing this article. =) It helped me a whole bunch. ^_^ The lengths that some people go through for things like these are sometimes really disgusting; you could find fake login pages on google if you searched for it. -_-; gah.

I know ^^; The really disgusting part is what people search for on google, when they come to this site .. let's see, I have a "how to steal a password from neopets", a "how to get your friends neopets password" (some friend, huh?), a "all passwords on neopets.com" (a little greedy, no?) aaand so on ^^; Oh, and you're welcome - thank you for your nice words, too ^-^

Hi, You'll need to contact the people on the site you forgot your passwords of - with some luck they have a "forgot password" feature so you can just have your password sent to your e-mail address, so look for that ^-^ If you forgot your password on Neopets, for example, you would go to this page - at the bottom there's a "Forgot Your Password" field, which you fill out and follow neopets' instructions ^-^

No it doesn't, it's not supposed to do that O.o; To recover your neopets password you'd go to their login page and fill out the "Forgot your password?" field near the bottom.
